So, I've started reading several blogs lately and one has particularly inspired me to want to sew more. This blog Adventures in Dressmaking, is filled with DIY outfits and cute summer dresses. It really makes me want to get out my scissors and snip away!
Well, today I was watching my 2 year old nephew, Ben, and decided we would take a trip into town because being on maternity leave and having no more college to attend is driving me up the walls, my mum says that 4 walls can drive you crazy at this point in the pregnancy, and she's right. I needed to be out and about today. So, we went into town and wandered around the shops. Whilst he was napping I found this amazing dress?
It's mint green, with a black palm tree print all over and super cute flower buttons. I was amazed when I found this because it was on the £1 rail in the shop... I thought that can't be right especially since it didnt have a price tag, but I held onto it anyway as I continued to shop the store. When I was ready I went up to the till and told the girl where I'd found it and if she could check the price... Well, to my amazement it was £1!!
It's a size 12, so two sizes too big for me (at my normal size ie minus baby that is :D ) but I thought, hey it's a bargain and the pattern is adorable! I couldn't resist, and so once I've had the baby ( keep yours fingers crossed as I'm due on Monday) I'll recheck all my measurements then alter the dress to fit me.
I'm so excited about this little project! And, cant wait to start it! I also bought some super cheap knitted maxi skirts in burgundy and grey. I also got these for £1, so I'm going to transform one into a mini skirt to wear in the winter with tights and a cute top, and I was thinking of changing the other two into adorable knitted book bags. They have a cable knit pattern on them and are made from a really soft wool. I'll hopefully start making one tomorrow and post my progress here.
As always, thanks for stopping by and have a great time crafting.
Love Karen x
