About

After many tries over the years, I am finally going to give this another go. So, let's begin with a little introduction...

I don't know about you, but I have tried to start over a dozen blogs over the years, and find it really difficult. Don't you think some people's blogs are just beautiful and look effortless? It's safe to say, I am not one of those lucky people. But, this time round, I am determined to stick it out and share my life and passion for crafting with you!

And so...

Hello, and welcome to my crafting blog. My name is Karen, and I live in rainy Scotland with my partner, mum and one of my many aunties. We all live in the house I grew up in and I'm proud to say that my first baby is due in under two weeks and will also have the pleasure of growing up (at least for some time) in my childhood home.

I have always loved to make things and after university my passion for crafts was amplified when I moved to Japan for a year to teach English. When I came home I got a basic shop job (as the job market was terrible and still is), and crafted lolly plushies in my spare time. You can see some of them on my deviantart page ( http://fuzzyjellybeans.deviantart.com ) and then after almost two years of working in retail, I decided to go part time and return to College.

This time round I ignored my BSc in Mathematics and followed my heart. I decided to study Theatre Costume Making and love every minute of it, then a few months into my course, my family suffered 3 bereavements in 3 months. I can tell you life has been hard since August 2011 and everyday I think of our loved ones.

However, my partner and I were given one of the greatest gifts we could have hoped for when the news came that I was pregnant. We have been together since I was 16 and this wonderful news gave everyone in our families a gift of hope and an extra reason to be thankful. The news came after the passing of my partners uncle, who was only 41, and if we have a boy we know that he will take my partner's uncle's name.

Needless to say, a lot has changed in our lives since then. Hope is what gets us through the day and with under two weeks to go until we meet our baby, excitement is pouring from us.

This wonderful news has changed my current plans dramatically, but I wouldnt have it any other way, it is a gift and I am so grateful. So, instead of working part time, and finishing my course to become a historic theatre costumer, I am now going to be a stay at home mummy, and craft as much as possible.

So, if you haven't gathered, I love to craft and have many interests, but my main hobbies are sewing and crochet. I also tend to waffle, so I'm sorry this is so long.

I hope you'll enjoy this novice blogger's journey and laugh with me as I try to get to grips with motherhood and being a crafter.

Love

Karen and bump x
