My little family

Well, it's crazy to say but I am a mummy. I gave birth to a beautiful little boy called Jacob Craig July 25th at 11:15am. He is so tiny that none of the clothes or gifts we received fitted him. My little boy weighted 6lbs 3oz when he was born and fits into the premature baby range!

After some monitor complications we were able to bring him home and begin our new lives as a family.
Hello, world. How are you?

It's amazing just how much I love him already.

I haven't, however, managed to do any crafts. But, I think I can forgive myself considering he's only 10days old and feeding every two hours. He sleeps a lot but it's sporadic.

As soon as we get into a longer routine I will hopefully post some crafts. But, I thought I'd share a few family snaps with you whilst I'm not crafting.

Have a great day, love Karen and baby Jacob xx

Over due but so prepared!

Well, I was due yesterday, but still no sign of baby coming. However, we are finally completely ready. My partner's dad dropped off our beautifully restored rocking chair.

We picked this up from a charity shop for £5! I was so happy when we found it as its exactly what I'd wanted! It needed some love and care. The arms were done and wobbly. So, he took it as a small project to keep him busy. He redid all the arm pegs, sanded it, and gave it a lovely varnish.

Now, it's sitting proudly in my room with a cute cushion on it just waiting for baby to come and be used.

I've been too sleepy to do any crafting these last two days. Hopefully, being late wont drain me too much.

Post 3: Today's bargain buy and sewing project

So, I've started reading several blogs lately and one has particularly inspired me to want to sew more. This blog Adventures in Dressmaking, is filled with DIY outfits and cute summer dresses. It really makes me want to get out my scissors and snip away!

Well, today I was watching my 2 year old nephew, Ben, and decided we would take a trip into town because being on maternity leave and having no more college to attend is driving me up the walls, my mum says that 4 walls can drive you crazy at this point in the pregnancy, and she's right. I needed to be out and about today. So, we went into town and wandered around the shops. Whilst he was napping I found this amazing dress?

It's mint green, with a black palm tree print all over and super cute flower buttons. I was amazed when I found this because it was on the £1 rail in the shop... I thought that can't be right especially since it didnt have a price tag, but I held onto it anyway as I continued to shop the store. When I was ready I went up to the till and told the girl where I'd found it and if she could check the price... Well, to my amazement it was £1!!

It's a size 12, so two sizes too big for me (at my normal size ie minus baby that is :D ) but I thought, hey it's a bargain and the pattern is adorable! I couldn't resist, and so once I've had the baby ( keep yours fingers crossed as I'm due on Monday) I'll recheck all my measurements then alter the dress to fit me.

I'm so excited about this little project! And, cant wait to start it! I also bought some super cheap knitted maxi skirts in burgundy and grey. I also got these for £1, so I'm going to transform one into a mini skirt to wear in the winter with tights and a cute top, and I was thinking of changing the other two into adorable knitted book bags. They have a cable knit pattern on them and are made from a really soft wool. I'll hopefully start making one tomorrow and post my progress here.

As always, thanks for stopping by and have a great time crafting.

Love Karen x

Post 2: Pregnancy, boredom and buttons

Today's project. I read a blog the other day, and the blogger had attached her vintage buttons to kirbys and I thought, hey! I can do that. So, I went out and bought some super glue and hair grips came home and went through my vintage button collection to realise most of my nice buttons are shank buttons, so these weren't suitable for what I had in mind.

After feeling slightly deflated since I've been pretty pregnant-lethargic lately and this was something that had excited me to craft, I gave it another try and came up with these.

They can be worn like cute decorative hair clips, or pushed into the hair helping secure a lovely up-do and looking cute too!

I had my hair in a dutchbraid up-do today and popped a few in to see how they looked and it was super cute!

Hope you like. And, I may even post a cute vintage selection up on my etsy shop for sale! So, please don't forget to take a look!

Love, Karen x

Post 1: Linking your Etsy Shop to your blog

So, to make this blog everything I'm hoping for I've been searching the internet to find ways to make it easy to people to my etsy shop and pinterest boards. I'm still working on the pinterest one, but I've managed to find a great way to show people what I've got in my shop without having to leave my blog :D Basically, go to your etsy shop and look down the LHS column and find the link for 'mini etsy' ->
then choose the options you'd like to see on your blog -> copy the code that shows up in the 'Paste this Code'-> come back to your blogger blog -> go to 'pages' and add a new blank page,
when the box comes up to add text you want to change to the tab 'HTML' and paste your copied code. Label your page and save.
This will show up as a tab in your blog that displays part of your etsy shop...and you're done! How easy was that?

Post 0: My first post something about me :)

After many tries over the years, I am finally going to give this another go. So, let's begin with a little introduction... Hello, and welcome to my crafting blog. My name is Karen, and I live in rainy Scotland with my partner, mum and one of my many aunties. We all live in the house I grew up in and I'm proud to say that my first baby is due in two weeks and will also have the pleasure of growing up (at least for some time) in my childhood home. I love to craft and have many interests, but my main hobbies are sewing and crochet. I don't know about you, but I have tried to start over a dozen blogs over the years, and find it really difficult, don't you think some people's blogs are just beautiful and look effortless? It's safe to say, I am not one too those lucky people. But, this time round, I am determined to stick it out and share my life and passion for crafting with you! I hope you'll enjoy this novice blogger's journey and laugh with me as I try to get to grips with motherhood and being a crafter. Thank you for reading and I do hope you will come back! My second post will most likely follow this one today. Love Karen and bump x
